Today we present you another of our curiosities – you know we’re very curious and that our official hobby is scrutinize and complicate things unnecessarily as to what telenovelas are concerned. Today, we start a new section that will surely continue: it’s about those things in telenovelas that are repeated or that are so similar that you don’t know where you saw it. We are not talking about remakes or copies but different telenovelas that use similar scenes.

In this article, we’ll talk about the openings of telenovelas. The opening is an important part in the story because, besides listening to the main song, that one that you can easily catch and cannot stop singing, it is the presentation of the characters of the story.

There’s a production company, specifically Venevision International, that invests in telenovelas’ openings what I invest in smoking, since I don’t smoke – they are all exactly the same. Look carefully and then tell me, but wait a while between one and the other or you’ll get an indigestion.

Acorralada

Gata Salvaje

Olvidarte jamás

Mi vida eres tú

Amor comprado

There are some things in common in all of them that cannot be overlooked:

* The lost look in the characters’ eyes - they seem to be trying to solve the relativity theory. How profound!
* The mansions… I think it’s the same one all the time but taken from different angles.
* In all of them, there’s somebody on a horse (????) and in the modern version, on a motorbike.
* In all of them there’s a car either arriving or leaving (????)
* There’s always somebody half-naked.
* The character taking a shower is never absent.
* The cowboy hats, typical from Miami.
* The 80% of the actors are the same… if you see all the openings one after the other you won’t know which opening is which.
* I don’t mess up with the songs but they all come from the same sugar pot.
* All of them give you the feeling that, when the opening is over, you doubt whether you should dare to watch the telenovela.

You may think that our investigation wasn’t substantial, since all those telenovelas belong to the same company and it may be fine that they use the same opening for all of them, but we think this virus of similar openings is contagious and it reached other companies. Don’t you find our opening familiar?

We’ll be waiting for your comments, and if you remember about similar scenes, let us know.
