We discovered her in “Maria Emilia”, when she was just a girl. This young Peruvian girl of only 19 years old will be the feminine protagonist, Maria Valentina, in the new telenovela which will soon be shown, “La Marca Del Deseo”.
Stephanie thinks that “La Marca Del Deseo” is a wonderful story from every point of view and that her experience gave her the chance to give it all to this character: “I like her because she’s a different protagonist, with a strong character; a determined and charismatic protagonist at the same time, I really like the whole story around her”, confirms about her role of Maria Valentina.
RCN Channel interviewed her and gave us the chance to show her to you. We hope you enjoy it.
“Your character, Maria Valentina, is a determined woman, a hell of a woman. Her story starts when she decides to go to Pueblo Escondido in search for her father, Reynaldo, for a promise she did to her mother minutes before she died. Maria Valentina starts a journey, risking herself to everything, and when she arrives to her destination she surprisingly finds a good father, and there’s also a man living with her father - a forbidden man who steals her heart.
What do you think of this story in which you have the main role?”
“It has a little of everything, it’s very complete – it has drama, a little suspense, a little comedy, is very nice.”
“What has been useful from your own experience to interpret Maria Valentina?”
Everything has been useful; you must take everything that comes. We actors are very sensitive; we live so many things – we travel, we meet new people all the time who teach us a lot. I have a sister who is very similar to my character, as well as I am, so that I identify a lot with Maria Valentina.”
“How’s that? How are you similar to the protagonist?”
“The 97% of my family are women and we are formidable, hard workers, we do what we want, we have a very strong concept of the family, like her.”
“Now that you work in a Colombian production, what do you think of the country’s proposals?”
“The Colombian productions are one of the bests of Latin America, together with the Brazilian’s. They have amazing writers, a great way of working, good atmosphere, wonderful sets, I love Santa Marta and I adore working here.”
“How do you feel in a character that forces you to dress lightly?”
“It’s something very natural, it goes very well with the story, with the scent of the telenovela, it’s not out of context, it’s not uncomfortable and the staff is fundamental for this. We show what’s normal and necessary for the scene.”
“How’s Maria Valentina like?”
“She’s very delicate to talk, she’s very careful about what she says and does; she’s very conscious about everything, about her body, about what she has. Besides, she moves in a very sexy and natural way, she’s very charming and I really like that about her.”
“Did your love for dancing give you guidelines to interpret this character?”
“Dancing helped me a lot for Maria Valentina, mainly contemporary Jazz.”
“What demands does this character make from you as an actress?”
“The accent has to be neutral; we’re all from different cultures, with different accents and vocabulary too, we must all have always an exact pronunciation.”
“The telenovela, apart from being marked by desire, is also marked by a curse. What’s a curse for you?”
“Like a spell; thank God nobody has ever put a spell on me. I prefer to stay away from that because they cause too much pain.”
“How did you get to be ‘marked by desire’?”
“I was in Mexico, then I went to Peru and I was called to audition in Colombia. Many projects came along but I liked “La Marca Del Deseo”.”
“What was it like to interpret Maria Valentina until now?”
“Adorable, I love her, we get on very well.”
“How do you feel in the scenes with El Gato?”
“Good, very relaxed.”
“What do you think of the staff in general?”
“Wonderful, the best of the best has been achieved and I feel very proud of being part of it. We are all very demanding as regards the work material, the production and the people involved. It’s great to be able to work like this and with a very good story, good writers and directors. These ingredients are necessary so that the telenovela does very well.”
“How’s working with Rodrigo Triana like?”
“It’s fun; he’s a very good person and a good friend.”
“What kind of proposal did you do to the character?”
“All the available proposals, and in fact you will see it when the telenovela is released.”
We hope Stephanie achieves a great success with this telenovela.
