The tittle doesn’t try to be a spoiler because the followers of “En Nombre Del Amor” have already witnessed such a tragic event. Iñaki’s death wasn’t a surprise either, since the telenovela that Televisa currently broadcasts is a remake of “Cadenas De Amargura”, and everybody knew that this character’s days were numbered.

But what nobody expected was that the character of Iñaki, who was just a character, not the protagonist, would captivate the Mexican public that much, and that almost from the first episodes the telenovela’s fans begged in all the available forums: “Please, we don’t want Iñaki to die. Iñaki makes such a good couple with Paloma…..”. But such an effort on the fans’ side was useless, for as it was planned, the guy was killed.

The ones who don’t follow the telenovela must be thinking that it has occurred to us to write about the death of a secondary character, but be patient, and I’ll explain the reason of the matter. This issue has many peculiarities:

1. In the first place, Iñaki was not the protagonist; he was Paloma’s (Alison Lozz) first boyfriend, who dies tragically (I won’t tell you how in case someone doesn’t know it yet). The protagonist is Emiliano, who doesn’t seem to be very successful as her antagonist.

2. In the second place, you’ll tell me, “so what?!” …. Well, that Emiliano is interpreted by Sebastian Zurita, the son of two great actors responsible for the best couples in Mexican telenovelas, Humberto Zurita y Christian Bach. It is not always true that children are a chip off the old block, since it seems that the boy still has a lot to learn to be like his parents. The boy has a really big responsibility: first, having to defend his first protagonist role and second, having to bear the burden his father let him - become the new ‘Mexican hero’. However, he couldn’t achieve it; and on top of that his father is succeeding in the competition with “Secretos del Alma”, interpreting a real hero and gentleman.

Another responsibility the boy has to bear is that we all assume that he has a protagonist role because he is the son of who he is…. and even if it’s claimed that he’s worked a lot and that he has won it all with his own effort, although his mommy and daddy don’t work at Televisa any more, we imagine that they still got their contacts and influences.

3. In the third place, who is the actor that plays Iñaki and has convinced the Mexican audience, that cries for his death in the forums? Luis Hacha, an authentic stranger for the Mexicans….. but dear readers, a little more famous in Spain, for, yes ladies and gentlemen, Iñaki is Spanish!!!!!! I can’t stop feeling surprised about the fact that a Spanish actor who participated in many Spanish telenovelas, like “El Súper” (as David), “Al Salir De Clase” (for this one’s fans, he was Vicente), “Amar En Tiempos Revueltos” (Eduardo Ayala), “La Verdad De Laura” (Nico) and series like “Hospital Central” would steal the Mexicans’ heart in a remake of one of the dearest telenovelas for them.

In fact, in statements published in the esmas.com webpage, Luis himself was very surprised about the welcome and the success his character had. Even more so, I think, the character has been killed because, whoever is the brave person who dares to give more prominence to a stranger, with a foreign accent, when money has been spent in the letter of introduction of Sebastian Zurita, and there comes Luis and takes it all up …I don’t know, but maybe the producers should have been wiser - they should have left the character a little longer and start negotiating with him other projects. In fact, in telenovelas everything is made up, so it wouldn’t be the first time a dead person is brought back to life if they see the audience is going somewhere else.

We’re still surprised because I think the way in which telenovelas are made in Spain and in Mexico is very different. We don’t analyze themes, or whether we can call ‘telenovelas’ the Spanish ones, but simply the performance: the Spanish way is more natural and spontaneous and the Mexican way is more theatrical, so it still surprises us that the actor has had so much success among the Mexican public. Maybe because he’s different, so he’s like fresh air. The Mexicans liked him so much so because they might be tired of always seeing the same faces.

Another foreigner who is succeeding, though this one is not precisely for his performance but for something else, which is obvious, is William Levy…. Shall it be the case that the Mexican telenovelas need a refurbish?

Another odd thing is that Luis Hacha, though he worked in Spain and is mainly known by the telenovelas’ fans is not a very well-known actor in Spain either, so the fact that he arrives in Mexico and heads this revolution confirms the saying ‘Only in his home town and in his own house is a prophet without honor’… You never know, maybe he ends up being a great telenovela hero.

He’s not the first Spanish actor to gatecrash in a telenovela; some with more success than others, like for example: ex Miss Spain in the ‘80’s Frances Ondiviela (“Gata Salvaje”); Yolanda Ventura (“Corazón Salvaje”), daughter of the trumpet player Ruddy Ventura and ex member of Parchís; Bertín Osborne, well-known singer and presenter who participated in telenovelas like “Alondra”; Maria José Alonso, who also worked in Mexico pretty much and played Lucia Mendez’ mother in “Maria Elena”. Others who have obtained protagonist roles have been Pablo Martin (“Dora La Celadora”), who worked very little in Spain….I’m surely forgetting many others but not to do this even longer, you’ll complete the list.

We’re very happy for Luis Hacha, we hope that after this experience he gets offered other projects in which he can demonstrate his good performance. We’ll leave you a little piece from this actor.

Ahh!!! I was almost forgetting, for the ones who don’t follow the telenovela and listen to the background song for the first time (as it’s another frequent question in the forums), the song is sang by a Spanish group (maybe it was because Luis is Spanish that they chose a flamenco song… what can we do about it….subjects are subjects), Grupo d’Paso, and the song is called ‘La Mirada’.

The death of Inaki is not fair even if in the original soap opera the character dies. I think the producers should give Luis Hacha the opportunity to do a protagonist with Allison Lozz on another soap opera because they make a good couple.
